    Überzeugen kann der Eee PC 1215N durch eine üppige Ausstattung. Dazu gehört die zurzeit aktuellste Funktechnik. So kann der Minirechner im Netzwerk via WLAN 802.11 b/g/n mit Access Point oder Hotspot Kontakt aufnehmen. Für die rasant schnelle Datenübertragung zu Bluetooth-Geräten ist der Datenfunk in der Version 3.0 VGP-BPS13/b im Gerät integriert. Externe Peripherie lässt sich über drei USB 2.0-Schnittstellen unkompliziert mit dem Kleinstrechner verbinden. Zusätzlich stehen dem Käufer für ein Jahr kostenlos 500 GB Speicherplatz im Internet zum Ablegen von Daten zur Verfügung.


    Solide Leistung

    The inside of the Z360 has a more premium vibe, but it's still not great. The VGP-BPS13 deck (though actually plastic) is clad in shiny metallic silver with plenty of curves, ridges, and softly edged indentations. A huge rolling speaker grate sits VGP-BPS9/S below the display and curls upward slightly. It's reminiscent of an art deco radiator or a classic car grille, which you'll love or hate. Despite its faux-metallic construction, the Z360's silver deck doesn't feel that sturdy; it bends a bit when pressure VGP-BPS13A/B is applied.


    Lenovo supplies feather-touch buttons that put the Z360 in a number of modes--VGP-BPS13A/S Autodetect, Movie, and Normal--depending on what type of computing you're doing. You can also toggle sound modes (on/off/mute) and Energy VGP-BPS9 Management schemes here as well.


    The notebook's touchpad is pretty roomy (3.3 x 1.6 inches) and sports a finger-soothing textured surface. However, VGP-BPS9/B the pad's mouse buttons, while discrete, are slightly mushy.


    The Z360's LED-backlit 13.3-inch widescreen display has a relatively standard 1366 x VGP-BPS9A/B 768 pixel resolution. Even so, the glossy screen did justice to our test materials. We observed pleasing contrast with deep blacks and well-saturated VGP-BPS13A/Q colors in both DVD movies and Hulu videos. While two or three people could cluster around the notebook to watch content, brightness starts to drop quickly when the screen is viewed VGP-BPS13/B off-axis.


    The Z360's stereo speakers pump out surprisingly good--but not very loud--audio. Located directly above the keyboard and VGP-BPS13B/Q equipped with Dolby sound technology, they provided a pleasingly open sound field and a little more bass than your typical VGP-BPS13/Q laptop.


    The IdeaPad Z360 stayed very cool during VGP-BPS8 our testing. After playing a Hulu video for 15 minutes at full-screen, the touchpad measured 88 degrees, the space between the G and H keys was 85, and the middle of the underside was just 90 degrees Fahrenheit. All are well below what we consider uncomfortable, VGP-BPS8A which is 95 degrees and higher.


    Keyboard and Touchpad

    While the IdeaPad Z360's overall design may not be your cup of tea, we doubt many VGP-BPS2 will take issue with its phenomenal keyboard. Featuring an island-style layout taken from Lenovo's ThinkPad Edge line, the keys are big and well-spaced, VGP-BPS2A with a rough, non-slip surface. Even better, they are slightly concave and make a pleasing clacking sound when tapped. All this makes typing on the Z360 a wonderful VGP-BPS2B experience.


    Ports and Webcam

    On the left side of the Z360 is Ethernet, VGA, one USB port, a USB/eSATA port, and a Kensington lock slot. Also on the VGP-BPS2C left side is an HDMI port for A/V output to HDTVs. On the right hand side are headphone and mic jacks, an additional USB port, and a tray-loading DVD VGP-BPS21A/B burner. The front lip of the laptop features a 5-in-1 memory card reader and a physical switch to activate the system's VGP-BPS21/S wireless radios.


    Lenovo's IdeaPad Z360 provides nearly everything mobile users need in a compact package. Weighing in at a fairly light 4.4 VGP-BPS21 pounds, this 13.3-inch widescreen machine boasts a fantastically comfortable keyboard and touchpad, plus a DVD burner (which is becoming a VGP-BPS21A rarity). Still, the $749 IdeaPad Z360 does have a few weaknesses that may cause you to think twice before buying.


    Note: While our IdeaPad Z360 test unit came with a 2.27-VGP-BPS21B GHz Intel Core i3-350M processor, Lenovo offers it with a slightly faster 2.4-GHz i3-750 CPU for the same price.

    Design

    Measuring 12.9 x 8.6 x 1.3 inches and tipping the scales at a manageable 4.4 pounds, the Z360 isn't the lightest laptop VGP-BPS22 with a 13-inch screen, but it's fairly compact and slips into laptop bags easily.


    At first glance, the IdeaPad Z360's design appears pretty low-end. The laptop's chassis is molded VGP-BPS22A from cheap-feeling black plastic with smoothly rounded edges. The lid flexes disconcertingly when pressed and its high-gloss surface VGP-BPS13B/S picks up fingerprints easily. Covered with nine separate fan grilles and split out into obvious upgrade compartments, the matte-black plastic undercarriage has much the same budget feel.


    The Z360 comes with a 1.3-megapixel webcam that captured sharper video than other notebooks we've recently tested, and it VGP-BPS13S can track faces to make sure your mug stays in the frame. The webcam can also be controlled via the bundled CyberLink Webcam software, VGP-BPS13/S which lets you use avatars and insert amusing backgrounds and animated effects. Lenovo's VeriFace software allowed us to log into the notebook without VGP-BPS13AS typing a password.


    Despite the fact that this black glossy phone is all plastic, the 4.5-ounce Nexus S feels solid. It sports a welcome ridge on the back laptop battery side toward the bottom that makes the device easier to grip. Just beware of fingerprint smudges. A volume rocker lines the left side of the device, and hp battery the right side houses the power button. We would have preferred a camera launch/shutter button as well. Some might wish that the headphone jack were located sony battery on top, but we don't mind that it's on the bottom with the microUSB port.


    Four capacitive buttons sit beneath the eye-popping, 4-inch Super AMOLED display (800 x 480 pixels). From right to left, dell battery there's Back, Menu, Search, and Home.     When Google pulled the plug on the acclaimed Nexus One, it was only getting out of the game of selling phones itself.     At first glance, the Nexus S looks very similar to Samsung's Galaxy S phones, but when you pick it saus akkus up you notice that it has a slightly curved shape.     Design

    Not many ivory notebooks come through our labs, but the SF510 wears the color well. Although Thinkpad T410 Battery the lid is glossy, it looks pretty elegant and it doesn't pick up fingerprints. Wavy chrome accents line the right and left edges of the SF510, lending a bit of an edge to the machine when closed.

To facilitate touch functionality, there are IR sensors around the edge of the screen that detect and track movement, be it a user's finger or thinkpad t61 battery the stylus. As a result, the Pocket Edition's display is bright and crisp. When we made slower, more deliberate marks, the Pocket was able to keep up.

    The glossy 15.6-inch, LED-backlit display's 1366 x 768 resolution is expected in this price range.     Thanks to SRS Premium Sound, the SF510 hp nx7300 battery produces excellent audio. The speakers at the top of the deck pumped volume enough to fill a large living room at just 50 percent. We appreciated the decent bass when listening to "Telephone" by Lady Gaga, and the SF510 even captured the hp 6720s battery cello's resonance in tracks from Zoe Keating's "Into the Trees."


    Streaming media is in this notebook's DNA, as the SF510 includes a couple of easy ways to hp 6715s battery play or send content to other devices. Intel's Wireless Display is also built in, which allows users to stream content from the notebook to an HDTV.     The generous 3.8 x 2.4-inch clickpad on the SF510 took some getting used to.     Design

    There's nothing really remarkable about the evo n410c battery 5745DG's design. Its glossy black lid picks up fingerprints, but a subtle striped metallic pattern adds some visual flair. The rest of the somewhat boxy chassis is a gray plastic, and the palm rest is made to look like brushed hp tx1000 battery aluminum.

    Design

    Sony completely redesigned the Pocket Edition to match the look of the Touch and Daily Edition. Gone is the D-pad, laptop battery as well as the buttons along the right side of the 5-inch display. Now there are just five slim buttons beneath the display--Page back, Page forward, Home, Zoom, and Sony Laptop Battery Options--and the Pocket now has a touchscreen just like its larger siblings.


    At 5.7 x 4.1 x 0.33 inches, the Pocket Edition is one of the smallest HP/Compaq Laptop Battery eReaders on the market. Weighing just 5.5 ounces, it's more than three ounces lighter than the Kindle 3G (8.7 ounces). One could fit it snugly into a rear pants pocket, though we wouldn't advise putting it there.     Keyboard and Touchpad

    Go big or go home. That's the mantra of the HP Envy 17 3D. This large but stylish desktop VGP-BPS9 replacement features an Intel Core i7 processor, powerful ATI graphics, a 3D-capable, full HD display, and a Blu-ray player. Starting at VGP-BPS9/S $1,599 ($1,649 as configured), the 3D version of the notebook costs the same as a similarly equipped non-3D version we reviewed just three months ago. Sounds like a sweet deal. But how does this machine stack up to laptops powered by Nvidia's 3D Vision technology? And is VGP-BPS9/B there enough 3D content to make donning those glasses worth the trouble? Our in-depth review reveals VGP-BPS9A/B all.


    At 7.5 pounds, the Envy 17 3D is a reasonable weight for a notebook this size, but you likely won't VGP-BPS13 carry it often (and then, you'll need the AC adapter, as you'll see in the battery section). With a maximum height of 1.5 inches, the Envy 17 3D also VGP-BPS13A/B feels thick, especially compared to Apple's 17-inch MacBook Pro, which is just 0.98 inches


    The Envy 17 3D has a chiclet-style keyboard and number pad that stretch across the vgp-bps8 16-inch chassis. On the Ten Thumbs Typing Test, we typed at a fast rate of 94 words per minute, even with little practice on the keyboard. In addition to the vgp-bps13b/q keyboard's backlighting, we like that the keys have a soft finish and make little noise when you type. We also appreciate that you don't have to press the Fn key to access media controls in the function row vgp-bps13a/q of keys.


    The Envy 17 3D has a large 4.2 x 2.5-inch touchpad which doubles as a clickable vgp-bps13/b button. Although we've given HP's touchpads much flack in the past for being either jumpy or having too much friction, the Envy 17 3D's was easier to use. vgp-bps13/q Occasionally, the cursor jumped slightly--it's worse for those who use two hands--but for the most part we had little problem moving the cursor to specific spots on the screen. The integrated touch buttons were always easy to VGP-BPS10 press.

    The Envy 17 3D shares the same PA3534U-1BRS minimalist-chic design as the smaller Envy 14, including a rock-solid taupe chassis made of aluminum and magnesium. A few touches, such as a paisley-esque pattern of raised bumps on the lid and palm rest and HP's glowing logo on the lid, mark this as a vgp-bps21a premium laptop. Between the machine's durable feel and details such as quiet keys (more on that later), the Envy 17 3D feels like a luxury vgp-bps21/s laptop.


    While the Envy 17 we reviewed in September vgp-bps21b stayed relatively cool, we noticed much warmer temperatures on the Envy 17 3D. After playing a Hulu video at full screen for 15 minutes, the touchpad stayed a chilly 84 degrees Fahrenheit, but the space between the G and H keys was a very warm 105 degrees, vgp-bps21 and the middle of the underside was 100 degrees.


    The left side of the Envy 17 3D is the real trouble area. We can accept a fan that blows vgp-bps21a/b 120-degree air. But after we played Call of Duty for 10 minutes, the left Shift and Caps Lock keys were a blazing 125 degrees. That's VGP-BPS22A disturbing.


    The Envy 17 3D's speakers, which are tucked discreetly onto the front lip of the notebook, are powered by Beats VGP-BPS22 audio technology. When listening to music or playing games, we were impressed with the fidelity and power of the speakers. Not only were sounds crisp and Latitude D420 Battery bright, but there was plenty of low-end bass, too.     Now that you can use a smart phone as a hotspot, it's natural to wonder why you would carry a dedicated gadget just for vgp-bps13/s that purpose. Novatel's MiFi 2372 makes a pretty good case for the category's staying power. This compact modem ($49 with a two-year contract) not vgp-bps13a/s only lets you share AT&T's 3G data with up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices; you can easily see your signal strength and battery life right in your vgp-bps13as browser, as well as access a handful of widgets and applications powered by Novatel's MiFi OS.     Display and Sound

    For the non-3D version of the Envy 17, HP offers a BrightView Infinity display, which vgp-bps13b/s has a 1600 x 900 resolution, standard viewing angles, and a 60-percent color gamut. However, the 3D comes with a higher-res Ultra BrightView Infinity elitebook 8530w battery display, which has 1920 x 1080 full HD resolution, wide viewing angles, a 72-percent color gamut, and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The notebook also packs ATI's Eyefinity multi-display technology, which lets users connect up to three external elitebook 8530p battery monitors, provided one is attached via mini DisplayPort.


    When we watched Blu-rays on the Envy 17 3D, we were impressed by the level of detail. elitebook 8540w battery As promised, the display was bright, too, and the colors were true. We were also able to watch movies comfortably from the sides and even elitebook 8730p battery with the lid pushed far forward, but that required us to dim the lights; with the lights on, the display was too reflective to watch at wide angles.     With a glossy black front and soft-touch back, the MiFi 2372 is somewhat bulkier than the MiFi probook 4510s battery devices available for Sprint and Verizon. It measures 3.9 x 2.4 x 0.6 inches and weighs 2.9 ounces, compared to 3.5 x 2.3 x 0.4 and 2.1 probook 4410s battery ounces for the earlier EV-DO version. The chrome accents around the sides are nice, but the device feels less sturdy than the Verizon and Sprint MiFis. Plus, we noticed that the AT&T logo started to rub off after a week probook 4515s battery of testing.


    MiFi OS

    What makes this modem unique is the MiFi OS, which allows you to access a home page vgp-bps10/b for the device (http://attmifi) that displays the battery life and signal strength right up top. Having this information always available is really convenient. Strangely, refreshing this widget caused it to go blank, and only refreshing the entire page forced it to come back.


    The top of the MiFi 2372 houses the power button, and there's a Wi-Fi indicator up front that tells you when the device is elitebook 8730w battery ready to connect.     As with earlier MiFi devices, getting connected to the MiFi 2372 was a cinch. You just turn it on, and then you'll see the hotspot show up in your laptop's (other gadget's) list of wireless networks. Enter the password and off you go. You'll just have to be patient if you're powering the MiFi 2372 on before connecting. The device ProBook 4520S Battery took about 50 seconds to establish a connection from a cold start.


    Now that 15-inch notebooks are the new family PCs, you'll want a hub that can do it all: web Inspiron 1440 Battery surfing, word processing, streaming movies, photo and video editing, and, yes, even gaming. The Samsung RF510 ($729 on Amazon) Latitude E6510 Battery answers the call for versatility by combining a Core i5 processor with discrete Nvidia graphics, stylish looks, and a responsive keyboard.     Design

    At 14.9 x 10.1 X 1.5 inches and 5.6 pounds, the RF510 3000 v200 battery is too bulky to carry around all day but light enough to move from the living room to the bedroom and then the kids' room in a flash. It's also noticeably lighter than the Dell XPS 15 (6.1 pounds, 15 x 10.4 x 1.5 3000 n100 battery inches).


    Keyboard and Touchpad

    The RF510's island-style keyboard sports a numeric 3000 n200 battery keypad and offers solid tactile feedback and a smooth key surface, though it lacks a backlight. We scored our typical rate of 80 words per minute on the Ten Thumbs Typing Test, with a modest 2 percent error 3000 c200 battery rate.

    Heat

The subtle speaker holes that run across the entire width of the upper deck add to the high-tech aesthetic. Even the screen bezel has a subtle dotted pattern that matches the speaker holes.

    True to Google’s word, initial set up takes only a minute or so.     The spacious 3.5 x 2-inch touchpad felt comfortable when Sony VGP-BPS9 Battery navigating the desktop, and we had no trouble scrolling with two fingers or using pinch-to-zoom in the browser.     Design

    Slim and stylish, the MSI X370 definitely stands out. The HP EliteBook 2530P Battery top lid is a glossy black plastic with a honeycomb pattern that does a decent job of hiding smudge marks, while the undercarriage is made from a single sheet of sturdy midnight black plastic.     At a slim 13 x 8.8 x 0.8 inches and single hand-friendly 3.4 sony vgp-bps10/s battery pounds (with the 4-cell battery), the MSI X370 is the exact same size as its older sibling, the MSI X350. An 8-cell battery adds a little less than half a pound for a final weight of 3.8 pounds, plus about a quarter of an inch in resting height. The matte finish provided just enough roughness for easy and accurate control. In addition to allowing scrolling using the right side of the touchpad, the touchpad also allows for hp elitebook 8730p battery multitouch gestures such as pinch-to-zoom.


    Recessed into a shallow, oval well, the rounded mouse buttons overhang the edges of the L655D's hp elitebook 8540w battery touchpad by about half an inch on each side. Compared to the diminutive size of the touchpad, the mouse buttons are huge Dell Latitude E5410 Battery but responsive.


    The MSI X370 offers an island keyboard with firm tactile feedback.     Keyboard and Touchpad

    One of the sacrifices you make on the NB505 versus the NB305 is that you don't get a VGP-BPS13 chiclet-style metal keyboard. This less expensive netbook has plastic keys that are closer together, and some keys (such as the right Shift and Enter) VGP-BPS9/S are shrunken. Still, we found the typing experience comfortable. The terraced keys offered strong tactile feedback.


    Measuring 3.1 x 1.5 inches, the mini NB505's Synaptics touchpad provides plenty of room for navigating the desktop. VGP-BPS13A/B Pinch-to-zoom gestures worked well both in the browser and with photos. However, we sometimes zoomed in on a document accidentally when our left VGP-BPS13A/S palm brushed up against the touchpad while typing. In addition, two-finger scrolling was a bit jumpy.


    The two black mouse buttons on the mini NB505 are among the VGP-BPS9A/B best we've used. They're large and easy to press without being mushy.


    When holding the Atrix 4G in portrait mode, microUSB and mini HDMI ports sit along the lower left side. On the right are volume VGP-BPS9/B controls, while on top is a headphone jack and a fingerprint reader that doubles as the power button. There's no dedicated camera button. VGP-BPS9 The fingerprint reader/power button is a little hard to press, but this does ward against accidental activation.


    While it's not quite as hi-res as the iPhone 4's Retina VGP-BPS13AS display (960 x 640 pixels), the Atrix 4G's qHD screen is very bright and crisp. Web pages displayed sharp images while hi-res YouTube videos possessed lots of brightness and vivid colors. Viewing angles are on a par with other big-screened VGP-BPS13/S devices such as the Evo 4G and the Droid X, with image quality deteriorating as you angle the display away.


    A smaller column on the right shows you friends on Quora and Facebook, and lets you send a VGP-BPS13S message to your followers. The content of the sidebar changes depending on what's in the main column. For example, when you click through to a VGP-BPS13B/S question or topic in the main column, the sidebar displays related questions, gives you the option to follow the topic, lets you share the question via Facebook or e-mail, and displays stats, such as how many people have viewed the VGP-BPS13A/Q question.


    Questions are organized by tags called Topics; for example, a question about an iPad app VGP-BPS13/B would have tags for Apple, iPad, and iOS. Each Topic has its own page with a wiki-style FAQ and settings to manage and organize the topic. Just as with VGP-BPS13B/B questions, you can follow topics to receive updates via e-mail or on the site.


    Overall, we found Quora's text-heavy design a bit overwhelming. Initially it seems easy enough to navigate, but the amount VGP-BPS13B/Q of text displayed, particularly on popular topic pages, quickly became too much. Other services, such as Yahoo Answers and Aardvark, offer more VGP-BPS13/Q visual appeal and a balance between information and the UI.


    Although more and more consumers are flocking to VGP-BPS8 tablets as their secondary computing device of choice, netbooks still have some advantages. In the case of the Toshiba mini NB505, the biggest edge is its low price. For $299, Toshiba's low-cost alternative to its dual-core, aluminum-clad NB305 features VGP-BPS8A plenty of battery life and a stylish EasyGrip finish that protects your investment. Not bad for a Windows 7 machine that costs $200 less than the cheapest iPad. VGP-BPS2 But how much value does this netbook really deliver?


    Design

    The mini NB505 makes a good first impression VGP-BPS2A despite its rock-bottom price. This 2.6-pound netbook sports an EasyGrip finish on the lid that's available in multiple colors. Sporting an 11-inch display, keyboard, and touchpad, the Dock not only lets you use the phone's Android apps, but also has a full Flash-enabled browser to watch Hulu videos, stream music, and type in Google Docs, to boot. Sure, VGP-BPS21/S it's innovative, but how well does the Atrix 4G work?


    Design

    As a handset, the Atrix 4G is thin and light, measuring just 4.6 x 2.5 x 0.43 inches. Despite VGP-BPS21 weighing a scant 4.76 ounces and being less that half an inch thick, the slate-style phone makes room for a big 4-inch qHD (Quarter High Definition) display VGP-BPS21A with an ultra-sharp resolution of 960 x 540 pixels.


    Sculpted from black plastic, the Atrix feels almost weightless in your hand but doesn't feel as sturdy as the unibody aluminum VGP-BPS21B construction on the HTC Inspire 4G. Above the Atrix' screen is a front-facing VGA camera. Four capacitive keys below--Menu, Home, Back and Search--VGP-BPS22 are backlit in white and handle the usual Android tasks. On the back of the phone is the 5-megapixel camera and a flash, with a speaker occupying the VGP-BPS22A bottom edge. You'll find the SIM and microSD card slot tucked away behind the battery cover, which is pretty easy to pry off.


    The dimpled pattern continues on the black palm rest of the mini NB505, but this surface has a harder matte plastic surface laptop battery instead of soft-touch paint. Nevertheless, we like the unified look. What we don't like is the recessed power button in the middle of the display hinge; hp battery it's too difficult to


    Measuring 10.3 x 7.5 x 0.65-1.4 inches, the mini NB505 sony battery slipped easily into our backpack, even when sharing space with a 14-inch laptop. Though the Aspire One D255 offered an impressive design, pretty good performance, and a low $329 VGP-BPS13 price, a wonky touchpad and other drawbacks outweighed the benefits. This time, Acer is determined to get it right with the Aspire One D260, offering a slick dual-core system that fixes the flaws of its predecessor and provides features you normally don't find in VGP-BPS9/B a netbook--such as 2GB of RAM and Windows Home Premium. These perks come with a higher price tag of $399 (though you can find it for about $40 VGP-BPS9A/B less online). Is the D260 worth more than its predecessor and competing $299 netbooks?


    Unlike the lower-cost Toshiba mini NB505, the blue color on the VGP-BPS9 D260 isn't just for the lid; it extends to the deck, surrounding the black keyboard. The blue of the backlit power button on the upper left doesn't match the color palette very well, but that's a minor vgp-bps13s nitpick.


    Though it weighs a bit less than most other netbooks--2.6 pounds instead of 2.8--the Aspire One D260 vgp-bps13/s feels even lighter, perhaps because of its streamlined and compact chassis. We like that the bottom panel is smooth and comes off in one piece, vgp-bps13a/s similar to what we've seen on recent HP netbooks and small ultraportables. This makes upgrading components easy.


    Heat

    During testing and use, the D260 stayed relatively cool. We measured temperatures between the G and H keys (84 degrees vgp-bps13as Fahrenheit), on the touchpad (81 degrees), and at the center of the underside (87 degrees) and found them all well below our acceptable threshold.     Design

    This slim 10.2 x 7.3 x 0.95-inch netbook definitely has the wow factor when it comes to looks. The netbook also comes in black, EliteBook 2530P Battery charcoal, pink, and purple, all with a flake pattern.


    Keyboard and Touchpad

    Acer's FineTip keyboard on the D260 feels slightly cramped. The thinkpad t61 battery layout is flat like a chiclet-style keyboard, but the keys are close together like a traditional keyboard. This arrangement resulted in some typos, but at least the keys themselves supplied snappy thinkpad t60 battery feedback.


    The 3.0 x 1.5-inch multitouch touchpad is nice and wide and has the same smooth texture thinkpad t60p battery as the surrounding deck; there are lines to delineate it both visually and by touch.     Design

    The Xoom is streamlined and sturdy but not exactly elegant. Google designed Android 3.0 so that tablet makers wouldn't need thinkpad r60e battery to include the traditional buttons found on phones.     When the tablet is held in landscape mode, the two volume buttons are on the left side. A great keyboard can make you more efficient, allowing you to enter text quickly and comfortably. To help you VGP-BPS2 choose a notebook with a great keyboard, we’ve scoured our lab for the some of the best (and worst) VGP-BPS2B examples.

    As proof, BGR reports that mobile app developer ShopSavvy has uncovered a few BlackBerry devices running the Android probook 4710s battery version of its popular application.

    Unfortunately, Envy 14 Beats Edition owners can't get the Radiance Infinity VGP-BPS13 screen with 1600 x 900 resolution, which was available on the original Envy 14. (This option is also no longer available on the regular Envy 14). You'll have VGP-BPS13A/Q to settle for a max of 1366 x 768.


    As this is the Beats Audio Edition of this notebook, you'd naturally expect excellent audio quality, and the Envy VGP-BPS13A/B 14 delivers. The two speakers on the front edge produced powerful enough sound to fill a medium-size room, though the bass was a little bit weak. VGP-BPS13A/S Audio was simply superb when we plugged in the included Solo Beats headphones. The combination resulted in bass that came through deep and VGP-BPS9 warm. HP gives users a pretty comprehensive spread of tweaks for the equalizer settings in the Beats Audio control panel. Users can even save their presets if the included settings aren't to VGP-BPS9A/B their tastes.


    Historically with all non-Apple touchpads that use the pad for clicking, those who use two hands to navigate VGP-BPS9/B will find that the cursor moves abruptly when they click; this was less of an issue on the Envy 14, though it still happened on VGP-BPS9/S occasion. Multitouch gestures worked fairly well, but not as smoothly as the glass touchpad on the MacBook. Two-finger scrolling was spotty, and when pinching to shrink an object, we had to remember that our thumb could not start out in the area VGP-BPS8A where the buttons were.


    Like the Pavilion dv5t, HP opted for a new 14.5-inch widescreen, which provides a VGP-BPS8 pretty good balance between extra screen real estate and portability. The 1366 x 768 screen displays up to 82 percent of the color gamut, and has a max VGP-BPS2 brightness of 350 nits. Whether we were watching movies stored on the hard drive or streamed from the web, colors were bright and crisp and popped off the screen, while blacks were lustrous and deep with no VGP-BPS2A artifacts.


    We were able to hear the complexities not only in VGP-BPS2B music from a wide range of genres, but also when watching TV and movies. Listening to a live performance of Thunder Road, we could hear the whispers in the crowd while Bruce Springsteen wailed on his VGP-BPS2C harmonica.


    Editor's Note:The configuration HP sent us VGP-BPS21A/B for review is different from the configurations available to U.S. customers. Our model came with a high-definition, multitouch display, but consumers will only have the option to add a touchscreen to models with the 1024 x 600 resolution. Our review unit VGP-BPS21/S also came with Windows 7 Professional, but that is not a pre-configured option available through HP.com. The price as reviewed reflects a configuration VGP-BPS21 with a high-definition panel, but not the touchscreen, and Windows 7 Home Premium.


    Design

    Like the Mini 5101 and 5102 before it, the 5103 very VGP-BPS21A much looks and feels like a shrunken HP ProBook, which is a compliment. HP hasn't changed the outer design much for this generation, which is mostly a good thing (with the exception of the touchpad). You get a case with anodized VGP-BPS21B aluminum on top and magnesium alloy on the bottom. Add in a soft-touch treatment on the deck and a clear HP DuraKeys coating for the keyboard, and you VGP-BPS22 have a netbook that can stand up to a fair amount of abuse. Not that the 5103 doesn't have style; the lid on our unit was a brown espresso color instead VGP-BPS22A of the standard black, a treatment that carries over to the deck.


    Weighing 2.8 pounds (with the six-cell battery) and measuring 0.9 inches thin, the Mini 5103 can easily slip into a backpack VGP-BPS13B/S or briefcase. The six-cell battery protrudes a bit from the bottom of the system, but it's hardly noticeable. To make the 5103 more attractive to VGP-BPS13S students, a carrying handle is available; it screws on and replaces the rear feet.


    Ports and Webcam

    Responding to users' suggestions, HP added an VGP-BPS13/S optical drive to the Envy 14 Beats Edition. The slot-loading dual-layer DVD-RW is on the left side of the system, along with two USB ports, a combo mic/headphone port (that works with the Solo Beats), and a headphone jack. On the right are an VGP-BPS13AS eSATA/USB, HDMI, mini DisplayPort, Ethernet, and a Kensington lock slot. On the front is a 2-in-1 memory card laptop battery reader.


    Not only is the webcam on the Envy 14 capable of high-def video (though it doesn't work with Skype hp battery HD), but it also has low-light capabilities. During a Skype session, the caller said that our face was a little washed out, but he could make out plenty sony battery of details, and colors were accurate.     Heat

    One of the biggest problems we had with the IBM thinkpad r60e battery original Envy 15 was its poor heat dissipation; that notebook's quad-core CPU raised the touchpad to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and the wrist rest to 103 degrees. Thankfully, the Envy 14 Beats Edition is not as toasty. After playing a Hulu video Lenovo thinkpad x60 battery at full screen for 15 minutes, the touchpad measured 87 degrees, the space between the G and H keys was 91, and the middle of the underside IBM thinkpad X60S battery was a somewhat uncomfortable 101 degrees, compared to the Envy 14's measurements of 81, 82, and 98 in these respective IBM thinkpad t40 battery areas. The heat by the vent reached an unpleasant 107 degrees.


    Keyboard and Touchpad

    Like previous Envys, the Envy 14 Beats Edition features a black island-style keyboard. New, though, is backlighting: IBM thinkpad t42 battery While it only has two settings (on or off, as opposed to the gradient lighting on MacBook Pros), it's a nice addition. And the red on this special edition IBM thinkpad t43 battery just adds another layer of cool. While typing, we liked the smooth surface of the keys and the lack of flex, but we sometimes had Lenovo 3000 v100 battery to press slightly harder than usual. We appreciated the quick access keys for adjusting the volume and brightness.


    Design

    Stylistically, the Envy 14 Beats Edition looks the same as its predecessor, the special edition Envy 15.     As it now accommodates an optical drive, this notebook's dimensions--14.0 x 9.3 x 1.1 inches--make it slightly thicker than Lenovo 3000 c200 battery previous Envys, but it's still easy to slide into a messenger bag. Just be prepared to carry around some weight; the 5.6-pound laptop weighs the Lenovo 3000 y410 battery same as the 15-inch MacBook Pro and even more than the original Envy 14 (5.4 pounds) and the Envy 15 (5.2 pounds). We really felt the Lenovo r51e battery weight while carrying the notebook in a messenger and backpack. Nevertheless, the Envy 14 Beats Edition is easily one of the tightest-looking notebooks on the Lenovo r50e battery market.


    As before, HP integrated the mouse buttons into the touchpad, which is a spacious 4.25 x 2.5 inches. We wish it was Lenovo x300 battery moved slightly more to the left, but we didn't encounter the problems we had with the Envy 15--namely, our palm accidentally moving the cursor. Lenovo x200 battery Overall, navigating the desktop was easy--as it should be.


    When placed side by side with the 13-inch hp compaq nx6125 battery MacBook Pro, we found the Envy 14 to be pretty evenly matched. While watching the same HD trailer for Iron Man 2, we noticed slightly crisper images on the Mac, but it was a pretty fine point. Viewing angles were excellent, though we found the hp compaq nx7300 battery glossy finish kicked back a lot of reflections in brighter settings.

    Unfortunately, Envy 14 Beats Edition owners can't get the Radiance Infinity VGP-BPS13 screen with 1600 x 900 resolution, which was available on the original Envy 14. (This option is also no longer available on the regular Envy 14). You'll have VGP-BPS13A/Q to settle for a max of 1366 x 768.


    As this is the Beats Audio Edition of this notebook, you'd naturally expect excellent audio quality, and the Envy VGP-BPS13A/B 14 delivers. The two speakers on the front edge produced powerful enough sound to fill a medium-size room, though the bass was a little bit weak. VGP-BPS13A/S Audio was simply superb when we plugged in the included Solo Beats headphones. The combination resulted in bass that came through deep and VGP-BPS9 warm. HP gives users a pretty comprehensive spread of tweaks for the equalizer settings in the Beats Audio control panel. Users can even save their presets if the included settings aren't to VGP-BPS9A/B their tastes.


    Historically with all non-Apple touchpads that use the pad for clicking, those who use two hands to navigate VGP-BPS9/B will find that the cursor moves abruptly when they click; this was less of an issue on the Envy 14, though it still happened on VGP-BPS9/S occasion. Multitouch gestures worked fairly well, but not as smoothly as the glass touchpad on the MacBook. Two-finger scrolling was spotty, and when pinching to shrink an object, we had to remember that our thumb could not start out in the area VGP-BPS8A where the buttons were.


    Like the Pavilion dv5t, HP opted for a new 14.5-inch widescreen, which provides a VGP-BPS8 pretty good balance between extra screen real estate and portability. The 1366 x 768 screen displays up to 82 percent of the color gamut, and has a max VGP-BPS2 brightness of 350 nits. Whether we were watching movies stored on the hard drive or streamed from the web, colors were bright and crisp and popped off the screen, while blacks were lustrous and deep with no VGP-BPS2A artifacts.


    We were able to hear the complexities not only in VGP-BPS2B music from a wide range of genres, but also when watching TV and movies. Listening to a live performance of Thunder Road, we could hear the whispers in the crowd while Bruce Springsteen wailed on his VGP-BPS2C harmonica.


    Editor's Note:The configuration HP sent us VGP-BPS21A/B for review is different from the configurations available to U.S. customers. Our model came with a high-definition, multitouch display, but consumers will only have the option to add a touchscreen to models with the 1024 x 600 resolution. Our review unit VGP-BPS21/S also came with Windows 7 Professional, but that is not a pre-configured option available through HP.com. The price as reviewed reflects a configuration VGP-BPS21 with a high-definition panel, but not the touchscreen, and Windows 7 Home Premium.


    Design

    Like the Mini 5101 and 5102 before it, the 5103 very VGP-BPS21A much looks and feels like a shrunken HP ProBook, which is a compliment. HP hasn't changed the outer design much for this generation, which is mostly a good thing (with the exception of the touchpad). You get a case with anodized VGP-BPS21B aluminum on top and magnesium alloy on the bottom. Add in a soft-touch treatment on the deck and a clear HP DuraKeys coating for the keyboard, and you VGP-BPS22 have a netbook that can stand up to a fair amount of abuse. Not that the 5103 doesn't have style; the lid on our unit was a brown espresso color instead VGP-BPS22A of the standard black, a treatment that carries over to the deck.


    Weighing 2.8 pounds (with the six-cell battery) and measuring 0.9 inches thin, the Mini 5103 can easily slip into a backpack VGP-BPS13B/S or briefcase. The six-cell battery protrudes a bit from the bottom of the system, but it's hardly noticeable. To make the 5103 more attractive to VGP-BPS13S students, a carrying handle is available; it screws on and replaces the rear feet.


    Ports and Webcam

    Responding to users' suggestions, HP added an VGP-BPS13/S optical drive to the Envy 14 Beats Edition. The slot-loading dual-layer DVD-RW is on the left side of the system, along with two USB ports, a combo mic/headphone port (that works with the Solo Beats), and a headphone jack. On the right are an VGP-BPS13AS eSATA/USB, HDMI, mini DisplayPort, Ethernet, and a Kensington lock slot. On the front is a 2-in-1 memory card laptop battery reader.


    Not only is the webcam on the Envy 14 capable of high-def video (though it doesn't work with Skype hp battery HD), but it also has low-light capabilities. During a Skype session, the caller said that our face was a little washed out, but he could make out plenty sony battery of details, and colors were accurate.     Heat

    One of the biggest problems we had with the IBM thinkpad r60e battery original Envy 15 was its poor heat dissipation; that notebook's quad-core CPU raised the touchpad to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and the wrist rest to 103 degrees. Thankfully, the Envy 14 Beats Edition is not as toasty. After playing a Hulu video Lenovo thinkpad x60 battery at full screen for 15 minutes, the touchpad measured 87 degrees, the space between the G and H keys was 91, and the middle of the underside IBM thinkpad X60S battery was a somewhat uncomfortable 101 degrees, compared to the Envy 14's measurements of 81, 82, and 98 in these respective IBM thinkpad t40 battery areas. The heat by the vent reached an unpleasant 107 degrees.


    Keyboard and Touchpad

    Like previous Envys, the Envy 14 Beats Edition features a black island-style keyboard. New, though, is backlighting: IBM thinkpad t42 battery While it only has two settings (on or off, as opposed to the gradient lighting on MacBook Pros), it's a nice addition. And the red on this special edition IBM thinkpad t43 battery just adds another layer of cool. While typing, we liked the smooth surface of the keys and the lack of flex, but we sometimes had Lenovo 3000 v100 battery to press slightly harder than usual. We appreciated the quick access keys for adjusting the volume and brightness.


    Design

    Stylistically, the Envy 14 Beats Edition looks the same as its predecessor, the special edition Envy 15. Instead of the original Lenovo 3000 v200 battery Envy's taupe, etched aluminum and magnesium body, the Envy 14 Beats Edition is a smooth, matte black.     As it now accommodates an optical drive, this notebook's dimensions--14.0 x 9.3 x 1.1 inches--make it slightly thicker than Lenovo 3000 c200 battery previous Envys, but it's still easy to slide into a messenger bag. Just be prepared to carry around some weight; the 5.6-pound laptop weighs the Lenovo 3000 y410 battery same as the 15-inch MacBook Pro and even more than the original Envy 14 (5.4 pounds) and the Envy 15 (5.2 pounds). We really felt the Lenovo r51e battery weight while carrying the notebook in a messenger and backpack. Nevertheless, the Envy 14 Beats Edition is easily one of the tightest-looking notebooks on the Lenovo r50e battery market.


    As before, HP integrated the mouse buttons into the touchpad, which is a spacious 4.25 x 2.5 inches. We wish it was Lenovo x300 battery moved slightly more to the left, but we didn't encounter the problems we had with the Envy 15--namely, our palm accidentally moving the cursor. Lenovo x200 battery Overall, navigating the desktop was easy--as it should be.


    When placed side by side with the 13-inch hp compaq nx6125 battery MacBook Pro, we found the Envy 14 to be pretty evenly matched. While watching the same HD trailer for Iron Man 2, we noticed slightly crisper images on the Mac, but it was a pretty fine point.     Design

Instead of a brushed aluminum lid, the new dm3t's lid and underside are coated in a soft-touch plastic that was comfortable to hold, sony vgp-bps8 battery but isn't curved like the older dm3.     CoolSense Technology

    HP paid close attention to heat when designing the dm3t, battling warm temperatures with what it calls CoolSense Sony VGP-BPS9/B Battery technology. In fact, HP claims that this is the company's coolest notebook. What does CoolSense mean? For starters, the vents were redesigned; now, Sony VGP-BPS9A/B Battery air is sucked in through a grille that extends across the front of the system, and expelled on the left-hand side, which was made larger Sony VGP-BPS2A Battery than is normal. This is supposed to disperse the air over a wider area. HP also moved the hottest components away from the wrist rest.


    If you placed them side by side, you wouldn't realize that the 2009 and 2010 HP Pavilion dm3t shared the same name. That's Sony VGP-BPS2C Battery because HP completely redesigned its 13-inch consumer notebook, making it thinner, lighter, and faster. The company also added in technology Sony VGP-BPS2 Battery designed to keep things cool, including a unique soft-touch cover and bottom. One thing's for sure: The sexiness of this machine dell studio 17 battery belies its $624 price (as configured). A low-power Core i3 CPU provides enough power for most everyday tasks, and while we wish its battery lasted longer, it should see you through most of the day.     Using a built-in accelerometer, HP's Thermal Assistant can detect if the dm3 is being used on a desk or one's lap--the notebook dell latitude e6400 battery gets jostled around more on the latter--and can automatically shift into maximum performance or maximum cooling mode.     Design

    The Envy 17 3D has a chiclet-style keyboard and number pad that stretch across the 16-inch Dell inspiron 1420 battery chassis. On the Ten Thumbs Typing Test, we typed at a fast rate of 94 words per minute, even with little practice on the keyboard.     Display and Sound

    Despite its small size, the dm1z is one of the coolest notebooks we've yet tested.     Keyboard and Touchpad

    Like most other notebooks in HP's lineup, the sony vgp-bps13as Battery dm1z has a chiclet-style keyboard that extends nearly to the edges of the chassis. Though the keys don't have as much travel as, say, the Envy 17, it was still a pleasure to type this review on the laptop. We were up to our usual typing rate in no time. This $549 dual-core netbook sports a screen that flips around 180 degrees while remaining inside the lid. The Duo's attractive, rubberized design and Dell Stage touch software look gorgeous at first glance, VGP-BPS9/S but does this system have enough oomph to overcome Windows 7's touch-unfriendly elitebook 8530p battery pedigree?

    On its inside, the Inspiron Duo has a pleasant-looking QWERTY keyboard with keys that have a soft-plastic feel. Unfortunately, VGP-BPS9A/B the keys have a flat surface and not a lot of tactile feedback, so touch typists may find themselves committing more errors than they'd like. On the ten VGP-BPS10 thumbs typing test, we managed our typical 80 words per minute, but with a relatively high 4-percent error rate.


    The 2.7 x 1.6-inch touchpad has a reasonably responsive feel and a vgp-bps13b/q slightly-textured surface that made navigating around the desktop easy. Multitouch gestures such as pinch-to-zoom were smooth and simple. The two discrete mouse buttons offered decent tactile feedback, but a small 0.25-inch space--wasted, in vgp-bps13a/q our opinion--between the buttons and the lip of the system had us tapping empty plastic by accident.


    Before opening the lid, the first thing you'll notice on the Inspiron Duo is the attractive design of the exterior vgp-bps13/b chassis. The bottom and sides of the system are made from a sturdy rubberized material, which also frames the top of the lid. The center portion of the lid, vgp-bps13/q which is actually the back of the swivel screen, has a glossy paisley design emblazoned with the Dell logo. The chassis also keeps the same color on the bottom, sides, pa3535u-1brs and even air grilles, so if you get the red or blue versions (which look much nicer than the default gray), the entire exterior will be color-coordinated.


    When you open the Inspiron Duo, you'll notice the screen, which is the first one we've ever seen that flips vertically within the PA3534U-1BRS lid, rather than forcing you to pivot the entire top of the machine. Dell's solution here is definitely innovative because it allows the hinges to stay nice vgp-bps21a and firm like a regular notebook. The trade-off is that there's a sizeable 1.1 inches of bezel surrounding the display.

    The good news is that the mechanism feels really sturdy. Every time vgp-bps21/s we swiveled it, the lid snapped quickly into place, giving us confidence that it won't wear out too quickly.


    The ASUS B43J represents the company's first serious foray into the business notebook category, and it offers plenty of perks vgp-bps21b for professionals, including a water-resistant keyboard and your choice of facial or fingerprint login. Coupled with an ATI GPU and Eyefinity technology that vgp-bps21 supports up to three external monitors, this $1,249 system is powerful enough for hardcore multitaskers. However, some buyers will want to think twice about vgp-bps21a/b toting this 14-inch laptop to and from the conference room and bringing it on the road.


    Design

    Our first impression of the ASUS B43J is that it's solid and utilitarian. The 13.8 x 9.6 x 1.4-inch system isn't super slim or feather VGP-BPS22A light--it weighs 5.6 pounds--but the solid metal interior and scratch-resistant aluminum panels makes the notebook feel sturdy. Overall, the understated brushed VGP-BPS22 aluminum lid, minimalist deck, and simple black paint job all work in the B43J's favor, but it won't exactly turn heads in the conference Lenovo thinkpad r61 battery room.


    Heat

    During use, the ASUS B43J stayed relatively cool in our lap, and we never noticed excess heat when using it on flat surfaces.     Design

    You could be forgiven if, at first glance, you mistook the Archos 101 for its older Archos 9 PC Lenovo x300 battery Tablet. With the exception of a few buttons, the two devices are practically identical in looks. The chassis is made of a black plastic, but the screen is Lenovo x200 battery bordered by black brushed aluminum, as are two panels on the back. Despite its slimness, the Archos 101 has a sturdier look and feel than the Viewsonic G good battery Tablet.


    With a footprint of 10.6 x 5.9 inches, the Archos 101 takes up nearly the same amount of counter space as the Archos 9 as well Sony Laptop Battery as the Viewsonic G Tablet. However, the Archos 101 is just 0.47 inches thick, compared to 0.7 inches for the Archos 9 and 0.5 inches for the Lenovo/IBM Laptop Battery G Tablet. The Archos 101 weighs just 1.1 pounds, a good deal lighter than the G Tablet's 1.55-pound heft, not to mention the Archos 9's 1.8-pound HP/Compaq Laptop Battery bulk. Plus, the 101's tapered sides make it look as light as it feels.


    Display

    The Archos 101 features a 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen display. Its size and resolution (1024 x 600) are the same as the G Tablet and Dell Laptop Battery Samsung Galaxy Tab. However, you can clearly see the diagonal sensor grid on top of the screen, which occasionally proved distracting. apple battery Colors were bright, but sadly the display is reflective, and viewing angles are limited to those sitting more or less directly in front; tilt the Archos 101 just a acer battery little vertically or horizontally, and the on-screen image begins to wash out.
